Sam Shine is a professional musician with over thirty years industry experience, both live and in studio, and 20 plus years teaching students of all levels.

He has toured nationally in Australia with artists such as Grammy award winner Anthony David and Emmy award winner Toni Childs, appeared live on TV and radio with artists such as The Electric Hippies and Kurtis, and has performed at the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival and at Woodford Folk Festival among others, in music genres from rock and pop to blues, jazz, funk and reggae.

He has done session work for award winning Australian producer Murray Burns and film and television soundtrack composing where he won the award for best music in a corporate video from the Australian Guild of Screen Composers in 2001, and co-scored the music for Oscar nominated short film Inja in 2002. He also contributed music to the soundtrack of acclaimed 2018 documentary Robert Mims, the Texan Bull Rider.

Sam has recently returned to the northern rivers region after five years living in Amsterdam and has spent the last three and a half years teaching guitar and bass at the Amsterdam Guitar Academy as well as recording and touring with Amsterdam based blues/rock band Black Hammer Voodoo and performing regularly with various bands in the Amsterdam music scene.

Sam is a graduate of Southern Cross University in the Bachelor of Contemporary Music, where he was subsequently a lecturer in first year guitar studies and ensemble for six years from 2009 to 2014. He also gave private music instruction for seven years at Emmanuel Anglican College, Ballina and has taught countless private students in Sydney, the northern rivers and in Amsterdam.

Sam is now teaching and performing again here in the Byron shire.
